QDOS (Quick & Dirty Onion Soup)


I was working late nights earlier this year & I would come back home (hotel) a little cold and a little hungry, but not hungry enough for a meal. At the same time, I wanted to avoid having an unhealthy late snack which would inevitably contain either too much sugar or too much salt. So I started making myself some onion soup, which I found had an exceptionally warm & satisfying effect, especially in combination with a good book in bed.

Serves: 1


  • 1/2 an onion
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Pepper to taste



Chop the onion. It doesn’t have to be very fine.

Add chopped onion to the water & bring to a boil. Add salt & pepper. Cover and simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
Occasionally stir & mash the onions to get the juice out.

Strain into a cup & sprinkle [freshly ground] pepper on top.


Mexican Maggi


I tried this one out on last Sunday with the sole objective of making the process of preparing and eating Maggi more interesting, and it turned out surprisingly well.

Serves: 1


  • 1 pack Maggi noodles
  • 1 Capsicum, diced
  • 1 Tomato, diced
  • 1 Cheese slice, cut into squares about 1×1 inch each
  • Salsa (Mexican sauce)


  •  Add Maggi Tastemaker masala to 2 cups water and boil
  • Add Maggi noodles, capsicum, tomatoes and cheese squares
  • Cook on medium heat in a semi-covered pan and stir occasionally
  • The cheese melts and forms a sauce with the extra water
  • Cook till Maggi is done
  • Season with Salsa sauce to taste
